Who this is between
This agreement is between you — the person or business using the service — and the operator of DocsOrigin, reachable at support@docsorigin.com. It covers the invoicing product at this domain. Paid professional services are covered by a separate document, because they are a different kind of relationship with different obligations on both sides.
What the service is
DocsOrigin is software for creating business documents: quotes, pro forma invoices, tax invoices, invoice-receipts, receipts, credit notes and delivery notes, in the form and under the names used in the country you register your business in. It also keeps clients, catalogue items, recurring schedules and reports.
It is software, not an accountant, not a tax adviser and not a filing agent. Tax rates and document rules come from a public registry that carries a confidence grade per country, and you can override any of them. Deciding what your business is legally required to do is your responsibility and your accountant's, not ours.
The price
Using DocsOrigin costs nothing. There is no subscription, no card required, no trial period that ends, no fee per document, no export fee and no feature held behind a paid tier. This is a fixed commitment in the product, not an introductory offer.
The promise covers the price of the software itself. It does not cover your own taxes, fees a payment provider or bank charges you, costs billed to you directly by a third party, or optional professional services, which are quoted and invoiced separately.
Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter — your business details, your tax identifier, your rates and the contents of every document you issue. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself, and for every action taken through your account. Tell us at support@docsorigin.com if you believe someone else has access.
What you may not do
Do not use the service to issue documents for transactions that did not happen, to impersonate another business, to send unsolicited bulk mail, to break the law of the country you operate in, or to attack the service or other users — including automated scraping at a volume that degrades it for other people, and any attempt to reach data belonging to another business.
Documents you issue are locked
Once a document is issued it cannot be edited or deleted — not by you, and not by us on request. It receives its number at the moment of issue, it is hashed together with the previous document in your business, and a correction is made with a credit note that points at the original.
This is deliberate and it is not negotiable: it is the property that makes the document defensible if it is ever examined. Deleting a tax document on request would destroy the guarantee for every other user of the same system.
Availability, backups and warranty
The service is provided as it is. There is no uptime guarantee, no committed response time and no warranty that it will fit a particular purpose. It may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
Keep your own copies. Export to CSV regularly — it is free and always available. A business whose only copy of its records is on somebody else's server has made a decision about risk, and this sentence exists so that it is a conscious one.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profit, lost business, lost data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from using or being unable to use the service. Since the service is provided at no charge, any liability that cannot be excluded is limited to the amount you have paid for it, which is zero. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending it
You can stop at any moment. Export your data first — it takes one click and costs nothing. You can ask us to delete your account at support@docsorigin.com, and we will, subject to the record-keeping periods described in the privacy statement.
We may suspend or close an account that is being used for the things listed above, or that is placing the service at risk. Where the situation allows it you get notice and a chance to export first.
Changes, law and language
These terms may change as the product changes. Material changes are dated at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it; if you do not, export your data and stop.
The English version of this document is the source. Other languages are translations provided for convenience, and where a translation and the English differ, the English governs.
