Invoicing in Israel

A business registered in Israel charges VAT at a standard rate of ⁨18%⁩, invoices in ⁨ILS⁩, and issues documents under names and numbering rules that are specific to Israel. DocsOrigin carries all of that as registry data, so choosing Israel once configures the tax, the document set, the numbering and the layout together.

Invoicing in Israel is free forever with DocsOrigin: every document type, every export, no card and no trial.

How reliable is this figure

Graded high: this rate has been checked against a tax-authority or official source. It is still your responsibility to confirm it before you rely on it.

Last checked against a source: ⁨2026-08⁩.

Whatever the grade, your own setting always wins — a rate you enter overrides the registry everywhere, including on documents already dated in the past.

Rate history

A credit note against an old invoice must carry the rate that applied then, not the rate that applies now. DocsOrigin picks the rate by document date, which is why the history is kept.

Tax identifier

On a document issued in Israel the identifier is labelled Business ID. It is printed in the header of every tax document, isolated left-to-right so it reads correctly in any interface language.

Expected format ^\d{9}$

DocsOrigin checks this identifier's structure as you type — a wrong number on an issued document cannot be corrected by editing it.

Numbering

Documents in Israel are expected to run in an unbroken sequence. DocsOrigin allocates the number at the moment of issue — never earlier — so a draft that is abandoned does not burn a number and leave a gap you have to explain.

Prefix, padding and yearly reset are configurable per document type, and the series is kept separately for each type.

How Israel writes dates and money

Withholding tax

Clients in Israel may be required to withhold part of the payment and remit it themselves. It is deducted from what is transferred, reported separately, and never taken out of the tax figure.

Original and copy marking

A computer-generated document must be marked so that the original copy is distinguishable from a reprint. DocsOrigin marks it on issue rather than leaving it to whoever presses print.

Sequential numbering

The document sequence is a legal requirement here, not a convention.

Local rule Uniform structure

Worth knowing about Israel

  • A computer-generated document must carry the word "ORIGINAL" on the original copy.
  • An issued document may not be deleted — it is cancelled only by a credit note.
  • A foreign-currency invoice must also show the VAT amount in shekels and the rate used.

A worked example in Israel

Three lines, priced identically everywhere, run through the real tax engine with the Israel registry entry applied. This is what the document looks like there.
